My name is Anne Wertheim, and I am the founder of Maui Rustic Crust. Growing up in Germany, I have cherished the delightful experience of savoring delicious and high-quality bread throughout my life. On Maui I have found myself yearning for the same exceptional bread that I had grown accustomed to. This longing for outstanding flavors and top-notch bread inspired me to establish Maui Rustic Crust, a small cottage bakery, specializing in the art of sourdough.
I craft my breads using traditional fermentation techniques and exclusively use organic flours. This meticulous approach yields loaves that boast a tangy flavor and a delightfully chewy crumb and tasty crust, providing a truly enjoyable experience. What sets sourdough breads apart is not only their delicious taste but also the nutritional benefits they offer. The slow fermentation process enhances digestibility and unlocks valuable enzymes and minerals, promoting overall well-being.
